The Milky Way.
Taken near the VLA in New Mexico. This location is perfect because of it's lack of light pollution. In places this dark the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye & actually looks like clouds building on the horizon as it rises out of the east.
This is how a cameras sensor records the night sky after a 30 second exposure. Minimal adjustment but this is not "photoshopped". It's God's awesome work, how we were meant to see it :)

Truly spectacular! And thank you for including the camera names in the description! I'm looking for a new camera, and it helps to see what kind of look different cameras give. Awesome job! :D

I've been trying to get some night shots. Thanks for explaining in your artist comments what you did to acchieve this image. Did you experience "star movement" during this? I tried taking a shot and either my hand shook the camera just enough when I pushed the shutter button, or within the 25-30 seconds the shutter was open, the earth moved juuuuust enough? I got stars alright, different colors. But there was a little "jump" like the stars moved. My error?
Any advice appreciated. If I could get photos 1/1000 of this quality I'd be happy :blushes:
